Recently I booked one ticket in 3A for 2 passenger for NDLS to LDH. Before booking it was showing available 1, hence I thought that ticket for first passenger will confirm and for second passenger it would be RAC. But to my surprise - got one confirm ticket and second on PQWL 20, not even RAC. I am not able to understand or digest serial number 20 for second passenger.
Can some expert explain this logic?

I can understand your frustration and confusion regarding the PQWL 20 status for your second passenger's ticket. PQWL stands for 'Pooled Quota Waiting List' and it is shared by several stations rather than being confined to a single station. The waiting list limit for PQWL is generally higher than the normal waiting list.
The reason why your second passenger's ticket got PQWL 20 status could be that the berth availability from the intermediate stations falling under the PQWL quota is less. In such cases, the waitlist is extended up to a certain limit, which is the reason why the serial number 20 is shown as it indicates the waitlist position of your second passenger.
I hope I was able to clear your doubts. Please feel free to ask any further questions.
