My suggestion:
Basava: From Mysore to Solapur via SBC GTL GDG BJP.
SWR should take over SUR HAS SF and run as MYS SUR SF via SBC. Increase quota for SUR SBC sector.
In the slot of current Basava between SUR to SBC, a new Mumbai Bangalore SF (operated by SWR) should be run. This can be shadow train of current SUR

HAS SF. In both directions.

For Bidar, SCR can run a new Bidar Mysore SF Via KLBG RC GTL. This can have RSA with KCVL MYS SF.
Current YPR BIDR LATUR can be run daily in present route without any issues.
Advantages are
1. BGK BJP get a faster shorter route train to Bangalore.
2. Mumbai to Bangalore daily train in current basava slot. Benefitting Mumbai, Pune, SUR KLBG pax to Bangalore.
3. Additional daily train to Kalaburagi and Bidar.
4. Mysore to Bidar daily train without compromising anyone.

May 05 (14:20)   New pit line at Mangaluru Central Railway Station will be ready in July

The new pit line that may enhance the capacity of Mangaluru Central Railway Station by facilitating construction of two more platforms is at an advanced stage of completion.
Work on the new pit line with a capacity to accommodate a 24-coach LHB rake commenced in November 2020, but got delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and non-availability of funds. The existing pit line can accommodate a 18-coach rake.
The

480-metre catwalk for the new pit line is completed. Laying of rails, cut and connection work, and work for electrical arrangements are yet to be completed. The pit line is expected to become fully functional in July.
The Pashchima Karavali Rail Abhivriddhi Samithi and various railway activists had been demanding capacity expansion at Mangaluru Central so as to introduce more trains to other parts of Karnataka. Southern Railway, which administers Mangaluru Railway Region, had been citing non-availability of platforms as the reason for not introducing more trains from Central.
Demolition of the old pit line for construction of a new one has provided space for construction of two more platforms at Central — Platform Nos. 4 and 5 — thereby enhancing the capacity of the station. The new pit line is being constructed at an estimated cost of ₹6.76 crore.
Coach maintenance
Pit line infrastructure is meant for carrying out primary maintenance of coaches of all kinds of passenger trains. Pit lines would have facilities for inspection of coaches round-the-clock, coach cleaning, coach charging, and watering.
The catwalks on both sides of the pit line help easy entry and exit from the coaches, which makes maintenance and cleaning work easy.
Every train rake has to undergo under-gear examination, checking of braking system, electrical maintenance, cleaning, washing both the exterior and the interior, checking the amenity fittings, and watering of the coaches at the pit line after every scheduled trip. Coaches would be certified fit for 96 hours of operation from the carriage depot.
Draining out the water tanks and maintenance of bio-toilets are also carried out in the pit line at regular intervals. All the maintenance activities are being done according to the guidelines given in the coach maintenance manual issued by the Railway Board.
Coaches are sent for intermediate overhauling (IOH) after nine months of service. Periodic Overhauling (POH) of coaches would be done after 18 months. While IOH of ICF coaches is carried out at Shoranur, POH is done at Perambur in Chennai and Golden Rock in Tiruchchirappalli.

Atleast now, more interstate trains should be run from Mangalore. From now onwards, for every new train introduced towards Kerala, one train should be introduced to Karnataka towns/ via Karnataka towns.
Linking Ballari, Raichur, Kalaburagi and Bidar is of utmost importance.
There has to be a dedicated daily train from Mangalore to Bangalore either via Kunigal or via Mysore.

Mangalore to Ballari can be Mangalore to Hyderabad.
Mangalore to Vijayapura already special is running. So a new Mangalore to Solapur via Udupi, Madgaon, Hubli, Vijayapura should be run.
Mangalore to Bidar via Hassan, Chitradurga, Ballari, Guntakal, Raichur, Kalaburagi is ok. But the problem is it needs approvals from SR, SCR, SWR as well as CR. No hopes.

With all development works done, SR will not handover MAQ to SWR just like that.
If Mangalore Port is developed as a terminal for all Kerala bound trains, then MAQ and MAJN can go to SWR. Still, the issue of three zones in Mangalore area would continue, as change over from SR to KR should avoid SWR, else problems will continue.
I feel attaching MAQ and MAJN to KR can be slightly better option. Zone change over for trains from SWR to KR as well as SR to KR

will be a smooth one.
Anyway, new zone at Mangalore is a closed chapter.

Bengaluru to act as maintenance hub for Vande Bharat Express trains that are slated to connect several South Indian citiesBengaluru will soon become a hub of semi high-speed trains for south India. Many Vande Bharat Express trains are set to be operational in south Indian cities connecting various parts of the country and the railways have chosen Bengaluru as the maintenance hub for these Vande Bharat trains in southern India. The trains are being manufactured at Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai. The speciality of Vande Bharat trains is that it can reach a speed of 160 kmph and is supposed to have travel classes better than Shatabdi and Rajdhani Express. According to railways, all the coaches of Vande Bharat will have automatic doors, GPS-based audio-visual passenger information system, on-board hotspot Wi-Fi for entertainment purposes with bio-vacuum toilets. Aneesh Hegde, Chief Public Relations Officer, South Western Railways, said, “We are planning to...

upgrade the existing MEMU car shed at Banaswadi to provide maintenance for the proposed Vande Bharat trains. That’s the position for now.” In terms of facilities, Vande Bharat trains offer a premium ride. The lighting will be in dual mode: diffused for general illumination and personal for every seat. Each coach will have a pantry facility. The coaches will also be insulated to keep noise levels lower. The composition of the train may have 16 AC coaches with two executive class coaches and each train can carry 1,128 passengers at one go. Unlike Shatabdi, Vande Bharat coaches will have electric equipment below the coaches and seats in the driving coach etc. The trains will have a regenerative braking system with 30 per cent electrical energy saving. A Press Information Bureau (PIB) data said, “The Vande Bharat Express train has an intelligent braking system which enables better acceleration and deacceleration. These trains will have fully sealed gangways and censored interconnecting doors for a dust-free environment. “A fire survival cable indoor circuit will also be available on the train. There will also be an improved air conditioning system.” However, the fare of these trains will be much higher than the other ones. The basic fare of AC chair car of Vande Bharat Express will be 1.4 times of the basic fare of AC chair car class of Shatabdi train and for executive class, it will be 1.3 times of the basic fare of Shatabdi trains. There will be other charges like reservation fee, superfast surcharge, catering charge and Goods and service tax etc. Even the tatkal quota will be five per cent of the total accommodation for the respective classes. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had recently announced the rolling out of 400 Vande Bharat trains in the next three years.Sanjeev Dyamananavar, a techie and a rail expert said, “The railways should look at introducing these semi high-speed trains from Bengaluru to Hyderabad, Hubballi and Kochi. These trains should be a must for Bengaluru-Mumbai routes as there is high traffic always. The railways can also consider introducing a weekend train to Mangaluru which may be well-received.”These trains should be a must for Bengaluru - Mumbai routes as well–Sanjeev Dyamanavar, a techie and rail expert According to him, once introduced, these trains can provide a premium journey to commuters with less noise and many of them can take these overnight trains for their travel or work. However, a senior railway official said that the routes for Vande Bharat were yet to be decided though there was a demand for such trains between Hubballi - Bengaluru. “The routes are being examined and proposals are being sent to the Ministry. Vande Bharat trains can run only after completing electrification. Electrification of this route is expected to be completed by March 2023,” Hegde added.

Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru has proposed a High Speed Rail (HSR) corridor from Yeshwantpura in Bengaluru to the Commercial Centre of North Karnataka, Hubballi.
According to a report published in Times of India, the High speed rail corridor will have a route length of 400km, and it can be taken up along the current railway network.
IISc has proposed 5 stations along the corridor at Yeshwantpura (near IISc campus), Tumakuru, Chitradurga (near IISc new campus at Challakere), Davanagere and Hubballi.
As

of now, India does not have any High Speed Rail corridors, or lines operating at 200 km/h or above. But the country have proposed many HSRs. The details are as follows.
The first High Speed Rail corridor of length 508km is already under construction between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The HSR will have a top operational speed of 320km/h.
The corridor will use Standard Gauge and will be built with Shikansen technology of Japan. It is expected to carry passengers within three hours and the fare expected to be less than flight fares.
Few other High Speed Rail Corridors proposed in India and expected completion of construction is as follows:
Saransh Sahu, a former M.tech student at IISc and Ashish Verma has presenting a research paper titled ‘Quantifying wider economic impacts of HSR connectivity in Karnataka’.
According to them, Inter-regional high-speed connectivity and accessibility through public transportation modes such as High Speed Rail is crucial for sustainable and uniform development.
However, it can be a costly affair considering the enormous capital it requires against direct user benefits.

Vijayapura to Tirupati is just a one trip special by SCR. Why can't it be a regular Overnight train by SWR?
If SR runs a MAQ BJP train and RSA train as BJP MAS, it will benefit many people. Say MAQ departure by 1800 BJP arrival by 1230 and RSA BJP dep 1600 to reach MAS/ MS by morning. Return Chennai departure 2000 to reach BJP in the morning and leave BJP by evening to reach MAQ by 0800.
