Decision by IR has both Pros & Cons.
Pros: As mentioned in this blog, adds capacity by replacing the pantry with passenger coach. In some trains pantry menu doesn't go well with passengers, since contractors are from different region so they cannot prepare food for the region in which the passengers travel. Lunch & Dinner, in most cases served by loading at intermediate stations. Breakfast, Snacks & tea are prepared in Pantry and they too have specific timings. With E-Catering having rating system, definitely catering people will take utmost care regarding Hygiene and Quality of the food served. We will have choice of food too. more... ask if we were served stale food.
Cons: Everyone will not have access for E-Catering system, some agents (by E-Caterers) can be appointed for taking orders or toll free numbers can be used for this purpose.
