जम्मू में आज पहुंची थी पहली ट्रेन, पहले पठानकोट उतरना पड़ता थाOn December 2nd, 2023, Jammu Railway Station marked its 51st anniversary of the arrival of its first passenger train. The Srinagar Express (also known as the Jhelum Express) arrived from Delhi on December 2nd, 1972. Currently, 30 to 40 train pairs operate daily, carrying approximately 40,000 passengers. While previously there...

The railway line was extended to Jammu in 1969. Prior to that, passengers had to disembark at Pathankot, creating significant inconvenience for pilgrims traveling to Vaishno Devi. The project to lay the tracks between Kathua and Jammu was completed in three years, even continuing during the Indo-Pakistani war. The initial train, 'Rahli,' was followed by three more: the Kashmir Express (Jammu Mail), the Sealdah Express, and the Jammu-Pathankot DMU. The growing number of passengers led to the introduction of the Rajdhani Express, and later saw improvements in punctuality, reaching 80-85% last year. Jammu Railway Station is unique in that it handles 30-40 trains despite having only three platforms.
The station has undergone significant transformation through a 266 crore rupees investment, connecting Jammu to major railway stations across India, including Delhi, Bandra Terminus, Lucknow, Howrah, Rishikesh, and Haridwar. This has boosted connectivity, benefiting both local residents and trade. The Vande Bharat Express also passes through Jammu. Further development is underway, including a new entrance with four platforms, subways for passenger convenience, an RRI building, a single control room, and other infrastructure, all costing 266 crore rupees. Once the new entrance is complete, the old station will be shifted.

1969 mein railway line Jammu tak aayi. Usse pehle, passengers ko Pathankot mein utarna padta tha, Vaishno Devi jaane wale pilgrims ke liye yeh bohot mushkil tha. Kathua se Jammu tak line bichane ka kaam teen saal mein pura hua, aur woh Indo-Pakistani war ke dauran bhi chalata raha. Pehli train, 'Rahli', ke baad teen aur trains chali: Kashmir Express (Jammu Mail), Sealdah Express, aur Jammu-Pathankot DMU. Passengers ki badhti number ne Rajdhani Express chalaane ka kaaran bana, aur baad mein punctuality mein sudhar hua, jo last saal 80-85% tha. Jammu Railway Station ek unique station hai, jismein sirf teen platforms hone par bhi 30-40 trains chalti hain.
Station ko 266 crore rupees se badla gaya hai, aur ab woh India ke sabse bada railway stations se jude hue hai, jaise Delhi, Bandra Terminus, Lucknow, Howrah, Rishikesh, aur Haridwar. Isse connectivity badhi hai, jo local residents aur trade dono ke liye faydemand hai. Vande Bharat Express bhi Jammu se guzarti hai. Aur development chal rahi hai, jismein 4 platforms wala ek naya entrance, passengers ke liye subways, RRI building, single control room, aur aur bhi infrastructure shamil hai, jinki cost 266 crore rupees hai. Jab naya entrance ban jaayega, toh purana station shift kiya jaayega.
