The trains are part of the Delhi Metro's 64.7 km Phase IV expansion, with the first 13 trainsets destined for the 25.8 km Line 10 (Gold) between Aerocity and Tughlakabad. This line will be the first in the Delhi Metro to have its rolling stock maintenance outsourced to the manufacturer. The remaining 39 trains will be split between lines 7 (Pink) and 8 (Magenta), currently operated by trainsets from Hyundai Rotem and BEML. The €312 million contract includes a 15-year maintenance package for the 13 trainsets on Line 10.
