12864 is 2AC. WL4
12509 is 3AC. RAC 51
But irctc helpline told me RAC ticket can be e-cancelled (not TDR) until 30 mins before departure) ??

12509 is also not going to get confirmed .. will stay in RAC only ..

yes. exactly. That is my plan also. But 12864 boarding station is quite far from my place .. so if chart preparation is delayed .. will have to decide .. that's why keeping both options open

While I was trying to understand confirmation chances for a ticket I booked recently for 12302, I found that for 2AC, NDLS to HWH general booking quota (available seats) is 75.
While for Tatkal (Just checked availability for 13th and 14th sep), is 80 !!
How is it possible?

also, checked the 2AC general ticket availability for today's train (departure @ 16:55) at approx 16:00. Showing 123 available while Tatkal quota is fully booked. How is that practically possible?

5 2AC coaches in 12302. - Max 46x5 = 230 seats without considering any other quota and RL quotas.
Tatkal quota was 80 seats which is totally booked.
Train about to depart in 35 mins.
General availability in 2AC is showing as 123.

NDLS to HWH general quota in 2AC is 75. I think other seats are reserved for Other stations.
But, even after all considerations, 20 mins before departure of train - for NDLS to HWH, how are 123 seats available in 2AC? :O

There must have been some error. Now it's showing Not Available.
Similarly, for SDAH Duronto which will depart at 18:30 from NDLS, 2AC available seats showing as 142 now.
Is this some invalid figure during or after chart preparation?

When I checked 12302 2AC 123 seats available approx 40 mins before departure, there was no surge pricing. normal fare.
So, approx 123 of 260 seats of 12302 today went vacant. Unusual?
And coming back to my first question - 75 available seats for general quota in 2AC for NDLS to HWH but 80 in Tatkal? How's that possible? Or tatkal doesn't have station wise quota?

IR should adopt Dynamic fare and not only surge pricing to avoid losses. meaning fares sometimes can be much lower than the normal fare also. (in cases like that of today)
Who would book ticket with such high fare even on the last day if tickets are readily available on other trains and flights?

Sirjee, WL 10,11,12 hai. Total seats available 75 hai as per indiarail.info. RAC30 hoti hai 2AC mein is train mein.

Friends, I need some suggestion.
I will be reaching NDLS station from Jammu Rajdhani Exp at 5 AM at PF 16.
This train is very punctual and generally arrives approx 5 mins before 5 AM.
I need to catch Shatabdi Express from PF 1 to Agra at 6AM (Departure time)

train has free wifi service , once registered passengers will receive password on mobile phone using which they can surf internet indiarailinfo and post trip updates :)
