ANKAI CHORD LINE

There is good news for Marathwada.Railway Board has sanctioned a chord line connecting the Aurangabad line with the Manmad ...Daund Line with a U turn Chord line.This will be completed within 6 months.Once this is done, all trains coming from Aurangabad and wanting to go towards Pune can make a U tun on the chord line at Ankai and start the journey on the MMR DD line without going to Manmad.About 32 kms travel will be saved by skipping MMR.

Good news for Daund-Ankai Section.

Very Happy to announce that Daund-Ankai section will be now merged in Pune division very soon.Central Railway announced this last month.The most important statement by CR is that even though Pune division will be responsible for day to day activities of this section, CR Mumbai will be directly monitoring crucial decisions for Daund-Ankai section.This will help in many ways.Bhagwaan ke ghar der hai andher nahi.Cheers!!!

Actually when Kamlapathi Tripathi was the Railway Minister in the mid 70's there was a beautiful plan.That time the Railways had decided to extend the Daund Chitali line to Shirdi and then join it to Kanhegaon back to the Daund Manmad line.This way all trains plying on the DD MMR route would touch Shirdi.There was no need to make Puntamba a Junction. However, a politician from Maharashtra was hell bent on making Puntamba a Junction and here we aretoday seeing a spur line from Puntamba to Shirdi.

Central Railway takes a bold decision to hand over Daund -Ankai section to Pune Division.Awaiting the final Railway Ministry order.The reason is step motherly treatment of Solapur Division towards this section (excluding Manmad) .Once this is done on paper, many new trains will start from Pune to Nagar on a daily basis.Also direct connectivity from Pune to Nagar will be established.A big Solapur lobby was hampering the progress of Daund Ankai section till now.On the other hand they were reaping huge benefits from Ahmednagar, Srirampur and Kopargaon and Yeola stations. My Father Mr.VB Pisharody who retired as SS Ahmednagar would have been so happy to see this day. Happy days for Daund -Ankai section.Cheers!!!
