Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi, who is camping in New Delhi, on Tuesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and sought his support for the budget for Puducherry for the year 2016-17 proposed by Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy.
A release said Ms. Bedi also called on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh who assured his support on matters related to the budget and security.
During her meeting with Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu, Ms. Bedi discussed issues concerning rail connectivity for Puducherry.

more... said Mr. Prabhu assured her all support for starting Mainline Electrical Multiple Units (MEMU) and A/C chair car services between Puducherry to Villupuram and Puducherry to Chennai this year.
The Railway Minister also agreed to consider starting Shatabdi Train services between Puducherry and Chennai by early next year.
Later, Ms. Bedi called on Union Minister for Rural Development Narendra Singh Tomar and discussed with him the Open Defecation Free mission underway in Puducherry.
