Report that- "26 coaches are lying in the workshop due to non-availability of wheels and brass with the authorities"
speak volumes of negligence of IR towards the beautiful hill railways in-spite of being accorded "world heritage" status. These trains are not just a means of transportation for people but also promote tourism and provide job opportunities and are source of livelihood for a large number of local people.

Efforts...
more... are require to:
(1) strengthen the track, bridges, tunnels enroute to improve the running speed by 5-10 kmph
(2) introduce better and upgraded rakes to permit more number of coaches in trains and for better riding quality.
(3) More gas fired and powerful locos need to be inducted to haul longer trains at a bit higher speeds
(4) Better signalling system
(5) Providing More Reserved accomodation in NG trains connecting to popular long distance trains at Kalka.
Above measures shall result in better ride, lesser journey time, more passenger carried, higher revenue collection and lower operating ratio for these hill sections.
