One gets good (not excellent) quality PAV BHAJI at SUR station in the mornings for breakfast at affordable prices. Sold on almost all platforms. Worth trying.
And also Tea is good At SUR Station and dont try for South Indian Breakfasts like Idli-Wada, Dosa as those will be of not good in taste Even near Station premises at one hotel I tried Dosa it was no taste and hard one.Wada Pav will Be good @ Daund junction.
Agreed. When travelling by all north-bound trains on the GTL - DD Route - the last station that one can get good south Indian food is Idly Wada at WADI station. Do not try south indian beyond WADI up north. Also, same for tea/coffee. WADI and northwards, try tea and WADI and southwards, try Coffee.

It is, indeed, an interesting idea. There is also a restaurant in Bhopal called Shan-e-Bhopal which is modelled on a railway coach. Here is an article in HT click here

I was surfing on the net and found out that there are many railway coach restaurants in England. Here is one: click here This was established in 1985 and is certainly older than the Bhopal one. It even has coaches which have rooms for staying
Now you made me think. I have not checked that. Now that you mention it, it could very well be Standard Gauge
There would be other older rail restaurant. But as far as I know Shaan e Bhopal is the World's first BG Rail Coach Restaurant.

Sorry, I forgot that UK has standard gauge and in all probability the railway coach restaurants are in standard gauge coaches.
Even there was a planning to open one at Indore too. Even the coach had arrived, but dont know what happened and the work did not get Furthur done.

You got me interested and I googled. This HT dated 2015 says there was plan for one in both Indore and Jabalpur. www.hindustantimes.com/indore/soon-a-rail-coach-re staurant-to-be-opened-in-indore/story-qQzy6hXXtOS9 72WAcqsgpM.html . Wonder why they did not open?
Just had a word woth my cousin. He said that work is going on. Platform and shed has been constructed. But there is some conflict of Location. Planning of shifting it into Atal Park, Indore is going on, to attract more people. Which has less chance in current location, so work is on hold temporarily.
It is being demolished today as a part of drive against illegal construction after the Kamala Mills fire accident couple of days ago.

As I type this, I am looking at the JCB machines razing down the two 'coaches' of Pravas restaurant (It is located in the same commercial compound where my office is located (Kamala Mills Compound)

Rather unfortunate, but then rules should not have been flouted.Seeing two coaches being demolished is not a nice sight
Pravas' coaches were not real IR / ICF coaches (they didnt buy old condemned coaches and convert them to restaurant. They were locally fabricated by some contractor and given the shape and look of railway coaches.
I had not realised that the restaurant was housed in a ''fabricated'' coach. Thanks for your information

1)Autorickshaw's available, but don't go as per meter. Haggle on price. A couple of old time TONGA'S are available.
2)City buses available just outside the station exit gate.
3)State transport buses to its base bus stand, Akkalkot, Karnataka are frequent outside the exit gate.

Had visited SOLAPUR on 3-4 Oct 15, found one newly opened Restaurant ' SUPRABHAT BHOJANALAY' in Shivaji Chouk and the food is quite good & testy, Maharashtrian Thali as well as Punjabi, quantity is enough to satisfy one appetite. Also neat and clean.
