The station was inaugurated by the former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Manohar Joshi, around 30 years ago. Today, it is rapidly becoming modern and aesthetically enhanced. The station's entrance features a beautiful garden with statues of wildlife, aquatic creatures, and animals from Konkan culture. The walls are adorned with murals representing Konkan's heritage. There are also dedicated parking areas. The station's entrance also features a photograph of the former Union Railway Minister and architect of Konkan Railway, Madhu Dandavate, honoring his connection to the region. As part of the station's improvement, a new ticket office is being opened in the Gandhareswar area to benefit passengers. The initiative was spearheaded by the Konkan Railway Injustice Redressal Committee's president, Shaukat Mukaadam.
