the course of the meeting, the General Manager briefed the Hon’ble Chief Minister on the ongoing Railway projects in Telangana and the plans for further expansion of Railway network and services in the State. He sought the assistance of the Telangana Government in the development of Rail infrastructure in the State, to which Shri K. Chandrasekhar Rao responded positively.
On this occasion, the General Manager explained on the performance of the Zone, the potential of passenger and freight traffic in Telangana portion of SCR. He assured the Hon’ble Chief Minister that the momentum of SCR’s performance will continue aimed towards meeting the rail transportation requirements of passengers and also Industry in this region.
Shri K. Chandrasekhar Rao advised the officials to speed up the progress of the sanctioned Railway projects in Telangana. He reviewed the current status of important projects such as setting up of a Wagon manufacturing factory in Kazipet; new railway lines of Peddapalli-Nizamabad and Manoharabad-Kothapalli etc among other works.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister enquired also on the progress of the MMTS Phase-II project and the possibility of increasing the number of MMTS services. He emphasized on upgrading the Railway infrastructure in the twin cities so as to effectively meet the developmental requirements here. The Hon’ble CM stressed on the need to develop new passenger terminals at convenient locations so as to reduce the congestion at the existing 3 major terminals in the twin cities viz., Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Kacheguda. He promised all requisite help from the State Govt. of Telangana regarding sparing of land and other clearances etc for setting up the additional terminals. The Hon’ble CM further advised to expedite the works on Road Over Bridges / Road Under Bridges in twin cities to ease out the road traffic and assured all necessary assistance from the State Government agencies concerned (GHMC etc).
Shri T. Padma Rao Goud, Hon’ble Minister for Excise & Prohibition, Govt. of Telangana; Shri S. Narsing Rao, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister of Telangana and other senior officials were present during the meeting.
