Grievance Description : Dear Sir, This pertains to Western Railway Zone's Ratlam Division. Along with Gauge conversion (GC) work for RTM-FTD-INDM, the route between UJN-FTD was also closed. While the RTM-FTD section is already operational and work is in full swing for FTD-INDM, nothing is going on in UJN-FTD route. There is no decision / activity / news regarding GC of UJN-FTD section. Ujjain is the closest and most important city for FTD residents and this small 23 km route is a vital connectivity and provides a shorter route between Ujjain and Indore. Further, with Kumbh Festival 2016 Ujjain fast approaching, where millions of devotees visit Ujjain, importance of reopening of this route cannot be underestimated. Request you to kindly apprise us about the status of this route and whether it would be taken up for GC work? If yes, what timelines have been decided for this? Kind Regards, Dipanshu Rathore

Details : Sub: Construction of New Railway Lines. Ref: Registration No. MORLY/E/2014/05424 dated 09.06.2014. --------------------- Your query on Ujjain-Fatehabad Gauge Conversion, the remarks of Western Railway are as under: Ujjain-Fatehabad BG Line (22.96 Kms.): (1) Gauge Conversion of Ujjain-Fatehabad section is not a sanctioned project. (2) Ujjain-Fatehabad MG section has been closed for traffic along with Fatehabad-Indore section as it is not operationally possible to run a short, isolated, MG section as maintenance facilities for MG rolling stock available at Indore got cut off. (3) Proposal for Gauge conversion of Ujjain-Fatehabad at the cost of Rs.108.00 crs. (approximate) has been submitted to Railway Board for sanction. Proposal is under process of sanction in Railway Board. This is for your information please.
