Under the Indian Railway Act, 1989 it is a crime to obstruct train movement in India. Offenders can be charged for imprisonment but till now we haven't seen any massive crowd or group of civilians/political workers being penalized for obstructing train movement. I would be happy to see the Rapid Action Force along with the Local Riot Police to uplift such offenders right from the tracks before they damage any IR Property. Hamari Country main bahut se laato ke bhoot baaton se nahin

maante :-p
.
PS: Offenders should be produced directly in the Honorable Court without any bail and/or furlough. Then they should be awarded with 7 years of rigorous imprisonment again without any bail/furlough (For stealing the honor of an Indian Train... nothing less than molestation). Repeated offenders should be uplifted under the UAPA Act. Such things are possible only if the Railway Act is amended. Tracks are no place for raising protests so this law needs to be made draconian. Hamare desh main danda hi chalta hain trouble makers ke upar :-o

Police should raid and seize the property of all these protesters and take anything they get. House, land, fridge TV mobile etc and then auction them and from that money should compensate railways for the losses they have accumulated for no fault of theirs. once when govt does it, no other protester will dare to block tracks or burn bogies in future. And if a political party does rail roke, they should be banned for elections for 10 years.
Imprisoning will make them state guests and enjoy jail hospitality at the state's expense.

So our govt should think of an Anti-Rail Roko Act on the lines of the UAPA... like Indian Railways Damage Prevention Act or IRDPA :-o

Yes and not just for rail but for any public property. We indians's favorite habit is to do rail roko or torch public vehicles or break pots and glasses of public offices for anything bad that happens under the sun. Make a strict law and seize everything that person has got.

Many are mere protest for one or two hours. So no action will be taken. But in this case it is a prolonged strike. But Govt is worried about vote-bank. So not taking any action.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
