Why are these workers going on strike ? What are their demands ?

I think they want Old Pension Scheme back. But, IIRC, it was reverted multiple years ago because it was causing a huge drain on government budget. Eithercase, there are multiple folks willing to work, that they can fire the entire workforce and bring in a new one. The day they do this, the new workforce will know that strikes are not a solution and won't resort to this. Sure, it will break railways in that region for few days. But better in the long run, IMO.

Indirectly we can say that they are not happy with current salary and facilities. They want more financial support.

That's the thing I hate about govt. employees they want the government to do everything thing for them including retirement planning. No matter how much they earn they will always be this way feeling entitled.
Also I'm not saying that every govt employee is this way there are definitely some hardworking smart ones too. But mostly they are in a minority.
Like for eg. here the 1% ones who didn't want a strike.

Many times we criticize the govt. for outsourcing some services to private players or hiring contractual workers but things like this prove that the government is not fully wrong in doing this. Only thing I would say is there should be full transparency by the government in awarding tenders to private parties and the contractual workers should be paid on par with the regular workers doing similar work.
