March-end 2018 and Financial Express Digital brings you exclusive images of the exterior and interior of its coaches! UDAY Express was announced two years ago in Railway Budget 2016 and has been envisioned as a 'luxury' train for business travellers.
According to Indian Railways, UDAY Express will cater to the "busiest routes" and increase carrying capacity by 40%. Meant for reserved passengers, the UDAY Express will boast of multiple new features such as a food vending machine, WifI, LCD screens and an area for passengers to enjoy meals. From UDAY Express route to a sneak-peek into its interior, here is an exclusive preview of the new train:

UDAY Express: The new UDAY Express has an anti-graffiti vinyl wrapped exterior. The train has been given a bright colour scheme of yellow, orange and pink - somewhat similar to that of the Tejas Express.

UDAY Express: The new train is an all-AC chair car with seats similar to that of Shatabdi Express trains.

UDAY Express: The train rake is being made by revamping the existing double decker coaches from Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala. Southern Railways has taken up the task and hopes to roll out the first rake by the end of this financial year.

UDAY Express: Two coaches of the UDAY Express are ready and the first rake will have as many as 9 coaches and two power cars.

UDAY Express: Every alternate or every third double-decker coach has been modified to include an area where passengers can enjoy meals. This area will boast of a food vending machine - a first on an Indian Railways train. This machine will be provided by IRCTC, a senior official involved in the UDAY Express project told FE Online.

UDAY Express: The new train can seat up to 120 passengers per coach. However, in those coaches that have been modified to include the pantry-cum-meal area, the seating capacity would be 104.

UDAY Express: The first rake will have 4 modified coaches with the mini-pantry area out of a total 9, the official told FE Online.

UDAY Express: The toilets of UDAY Express have been modified to make them modular, however for now they be of the controlled-discharge type. Eventually, the plan is the replace them with bio-toilets.

UDAY Express: For the entertainment and convenience of passengers, the new UDAY Express will offer the facility of onboard WiFi.

UDAY Express: For passenger convenience, each coach of UDAY Express will have 7 LCD screens for passenger information.

UDAY Express: These LCD screens will display information such as the next destination, distance to the next station etc.

UDAY Express: In line with its aim to maintain clean trains, the interiors of UDAY Express have been given an anti-graffiti vinyl wrapping.

These are 22666 Coimbatore-Bengaluru UDAY Express, 22665 Bengaluru-Coimbatore UDAY Express, 22923 Bandra (T)-Jamnagar UDAY Express, 22924 Jamnagar-Bandra(T) UDAY Express, 22701 Visakhapatnam-Vijayawada UDAY Express, 22702 Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam UDAY Express.
