Officially, it is one of the slowest VB, having SF category average speed.
Like you said, avg speed is very much important and it should at least have 68+ avg IMO(for max 7 hr travel skipping TPJ). If it involves TPJ, we need TEN-MS kind of priority and avg speed.

SR/SWR may introduce PDY-SBC in future. That's the only hope for now and I would welcome this VB, if it really happens even though the chances are really low as this might affect the existing MAS-BZA.

What's this proposal? Why a Mumbai train need to circle around whole Chennai region and then gets back to Mumbai line at RU, particularly when a short distanced and a most deprived line of VM-TNM-KPD-RU is present?
Ahmedabad train made sense as it needs patronage from MS region, why this train need to be like this.

It is shorter compared to the proposed route and Another Balaji from katpadi.

Mostly, yes. But I do also feel Divisions are least interested to operate dedicated Mumbai trains from MDU, TPJ. Like u said RMM and VLNK are the last hope. Even for RMM, SR might consider ADI RMM as a Mumbai train and may leave as it is.
At least, CR should do something about this. They will also have tons of ICF coaches with their extended LHB conversion schedule.

All looks good except for chalukya diversion, Hundreds of KA people use this train every trip to visit TNM not just for temple but for other purposes also. Moreover, it is the only Bengaluru train for TNM and sadly either of the both SR&SWR are not interested to do something about this.
Chalkya needs to speed up is also a longtime wish.
