There are many views on this train tragedy. And it looks like nobodys fault, but the people themselves. What happened was very very wrong.
I would like to put in my thoughts. People may agree or disagree.
A) All this is due to typical Mob psychology. Mob psychology… kise bhi sudharne nahi deti. No person would do anything when alone or a couple. But when in small/large numbers (mob), adrenaline rushes through them & they do harm (like stone pelting, beating up people, arson, rape, etc).
Similarly...
more... here, when mob starts moving towards tracks, other people also move in, dropping their guard. Many more people join them, adrenaline rushes, & they feel they would get off tracks when train comes. That’s OK too.
But here, some things were destined against them.
1) A train passes at slow speed some moments before. This was easy to clear tracks & get back on them again.
2) Since that 1st train’s speed was slow, they must have presumed that a 2nd train, anytime, would be slow too.
3) Since that 1st train passed moments before, anybody would not expect a 2nd train so soon.
4) Fireworks started & many were pushed back. People were focused on sound & light show. So naturally their senses weren’t so alert.
B) Organizers should have given “alertness” warnings repeatedly. But mob psychology is different.
C) Speed of the train boxed those people in. No doubt. I guess, the train driver was in tearing hurry. Actually he should have exercised caution, since such programs used to take place before & were happening in city at that time. Also, the station was a few kms away, so actually, he should have reduced speed. In my view, the speed of the train made all the difference.
Rest all statements by Railways, in a common sense view, are not convincing at all & looks like planted lies.
RIP…dear common man.
