नई दिल्ली से श्रीनगर या श्रीनगर से नई दिल्ली तक कोई भी सीधी ट्रेन सेवा नहीं होगी। सरकार ने सुरक्षा को ध्यान में रखते हुए यह फैसला लिया है कि कटरा में सुरक्षा जांच के बाद ट्रेन बदलकर ही आगे की यात्रा संभव होगी।
कटरा से श्रीनगर के बीच विशेष तापमान नियंत्रण वाली VB और दूसरी एक्सप्रेस ट्रेन चलेंगी इसलिए कोई भी सामान्य VB या एक्सप्रेस ट्रेन कटरा से आगे नहीं जाएगी।

पहली बार 18 कोच की AC ट्रेन कटरा से सीधे श्रीनगर पहुंची, यह इस रूट पर आखिरी ट्रायल था। अब इस महीने की 26 तारीख को कटरा से श्रीनगर या बारामुला तक सीधी ट्रेन सेवा शुरू हो सकती है
