Hold on. 10 Mail primarily connects MAS-MTP in 1918. 12 Mail is PTJ-MAQ Mail, got Slip from 10 Mail at PTJ!!
Pic 1 (1944): 10 Mail become Nilgiri (MAS Dep - 10 Mail 20:00, Nilgiri 20:05, Malabar 19:10!! 76 Pass seems successor of MAS-Bypore Pass with Morning Dep!!
Pic 2 (1955): Nilgiri 20:15, Malabar Exp become 513 Mangalore Exp 19:30
Pic 3 (1960): 5...
more... Nilgiri Exp 20:15, 1 Mangalore Mail 18:10
There is enough evidence to believe MAS-Beypore Pass become MAS-MTP Pass (Morning DEP). 10 Mail can be seen in 1918 with through Coach attach to 12 Mail in PTJ-MAQ (Fresh MAS-MAQ Slip Link). 10 Mail converted to Nilgiri. MAS-MAQ Slip (1918) become through train as Malabar Exp (1944) which become 1 Mail (1960)!! And thats what i say: There is no link of 1/2 MAS-MAQ Mail. Its 90's run in itself is dubious & you push it way back to 1962. Pity
Beypore was a failure as it dont connect to port or harbour (Cochin was 60 Miles away. Why will you run Steamer all the way from Arabian Sea to Bay of Bengal, waste loads of Money and time to do Mail Service from Madras to Erode/Salem/SBC?? Mail service remained the way it was, MAS-Beypore remain Passenger not Mail Service (With No Mail & limited Sahabs it made sense to stop it everywhere for Revenue). SRR-Cochin expedite to become Main route instead of Branch & pushed SRR-MAQ connectivity as long as 1907!!
