The younger GENSET workhorse of IR, WDS 6G # 80002 from DLS Vatva (VTA) manufactured by Diesel Loco Modernisation Works, Patiala in January 2019, 7 years after the production of WDM 2G. This locomotive is particularly meant for shunting purpose & most of its electronic equipments like WDM 2G has been supplied by Medha Servo Drives Pvt Ltd. The loco resembles the WDS-4 in structure but much longer in length . The loco uses high adhesion standard alco bogies with Co-Co wheel arrangement. Unfortunately, this loco also has an unknown future ahead of it like its cousin WDM 2G.

from low power output, another factor which contributed to the sudden phase out of these locomotives was the unavailability of proper training to maintain & operate them. Most of the maintenance procedures of were outsourced to Medha. As a result, the members of shed were never well versed with less hands on experience & they devoted their time mostly to the other regular BG locomotives under their command. Moreover, both RB & the concerned authorities in charge of the locomotive sheds were very reluctant & took less interest in these locomotives. Therefore, the necessary efforts to upkeep their maintenance were never made.
