Shatabdi express is daytime intercity and runs on railway track but this Shatabdi is a sleeper bus running on expressway from Kanpur to New Delhi. Just searched about this bus and found they are 50 services listed from Kanpur to New Delhi in which 20 are reliable making 720 berth capacity and demand accounts to one more night train from Kanpur. From Lucknow they are alteast 50 realible buses available in night. If IR concentrates only on VB is short sectors of 500km then with the development of expressway network in UP the night traffic will go to road sector. 5 years back train is the only reliable travel option but after opening of Agra, Yamuna, and Purvachal expressway road sector has picked up from Kanpur, Lucknow, Gorakpur and EasternUP closer to new delhi by night. Any delay enroute even an hour will require to reschedule the train from GWL Though PM takes 6hrs min 8-9hrs turnaround should be there at PM end.

shankarrai 3 blog postsYes it has side middle berth as it has RSA with Biweekly regular Garib Rath express.
PM for this train should be transferred immediately to SER and SER should immediately provide LHB Coaches and make RSA with any other SER train to reduce delays. Condition of ICF coaches is very bad and looking at the huge delays everyday, maintainance at Pune end is not upto the mark. Accident can happen anyday. This train is running with huge risk. RB should immediately think about it.

The main issue is delay which I's effecting its cleanliness and maintainance. Even if transferred to SER the situation will not improve and regarding RSA it has 12+ hrs turnaround time at both ends and is still not able to recover delay. If any other trains has RSA the punctuality of that train will be at stake which is not at all recommended. It us better to leave Tata Raipur section passing trains to them selves. The best adhoc solution is to provide extra rake at base station for every daily train.
