PBPJVK~ 1488 blog postsSlip coaches of this train are running daily but this full train is running only 2days a week. They have to run this train daily, then removal of slip coaches are useful, otherwise not fully useful in a week.

How about a schedule like this:
17039 thrice a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday SC dep at 13.30 and VSG arr at 7.30 next day.
17040 on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday VSG...

Thats good but 18 hrs is too fast between SC and VSG considering SWRs running avg
The runtime of KCG VSG slip is just 18 hours 40 minutes and that includes slack for shunting at GTL from 17603 to 18047.
The days of run should be Tuesday Thrusday and Sat to line with weekend in Goa being tourist destination.

Usually Inaugural Spl will be in only 1 direct. Instead of sending empty rake to SC from VSG they can operate a 1 way spl
The running time can be decreased by 90mins making 18hrs journey. SC to GTL is ok after that needs speed upgrade. The dep can be delayed to 1405 and arrival at Vasco to 815. Even from Vasco the timings should be 1400 with SC arrival 800. As per present schedule Hubli 2205/15 Londa 2400 Vasco 415.
18 hours should have been the bare minimum travel time to cover the distance it's too slow now. That would have brought up the average speed to 46kph which would have been acceptable for a M/E train.

17039/40 is Super Crawler Train which needs Max 3-4 hrs speed up.
It is running at present as UBL MAS express as per SWR it will get back extended to VSG once 2nd pitline is commissioned.
Any progress of 2nd pitline and extention of 1st pitline to 22 coaches. VSG being terminal station and 2 long distance daily trains having PM and 4 days SM needs 2nd pitline. Without proper terminal facilities they cant increase frequencies of weekly trains.
No works for extension of 1st pitline that's why all PM trains restricted to 20 LHB.
2nd pitline as per SWR RTI commissioned in 2023 itself for full 22 coach LHB length but catwalk is only partially constructed on one side and no works going on that since. As of now only Vasco Azara parcel special train undergo PM on 2nd pitline and the VSG MFP holiday special running earlier this year was also undergoing PM on that one I think.

So you mean they will share same slot in common path albeit no more slip from HYB, lets see..
How will this train get occupancy ? Amaravati Wardha Chandrapur are not crowd pullers to get full train occupancy to SC or further to Hubli Goa. If such train is planned then the starting station should be Nagpur. Nagpur Panvel Madgaon RSA with NGP SC VSG.
