I've had atleast 5 acquaintances missing the CSMT-HYB Hussain Sagar assuming that it would halt at Dadar just because the HYB-CSMT Hussain Sagar halts at Dadar.

This is common in other places. Many trains going from Howrah to Kharagpur in UP side doesn't halt at Santragachi but in down side they halt there.
Bro, becoz train in general takes more time while entering a busy junction/terminus (HWH, CSMT, NDLS, etc) due to lack of platform availability and other issues. Hence people find it more convenient to alight in suburban stops to reach destination faster (SRC before HWH, Dadar before CSMT, etc)
Nice video. The cheap thrills of most of the Central Railway railfans is watching Dadar skip by Hussain Sagar, Mangalore SF Rocket and Deccan Queen :)
