Mangaluru, a key commercial, educational, religious, and tourist city in coastal Karnataka, is demanding a separate railway division. to insufficient infrastructure and services. A separate division would improve services, develop Mangaluru Central and Mangaluru Junction as major railway hubs, and facilitate new train connections to various cities. The article emphasizes Mangaluru's significance as a major economic center, with various industries, the New Mangalore Port handling exports and imports, and its importance as a religious center with numerous temples. It also highlights the city's educational and medical institutions, attracting people from surrounding districts and the Gulf countries. The South Kanara District Railway Users' Committee is collecting signatures until August 2nd to support this demand for a separate division, with a link provided for participation.

Coastal Karnataka ka important city, Mangaluru, ko apna alag railway division chahiye. Abhi, uske railway network ko South Railway Zone ke Palakkad division, South Western Railway Zone ke Mysore division aur Konkan Railway Corporation, ke beech divide kiya gaya hai. Problem with mangaluru division is where it will get 600 kms line. Atleast if KR merged with IR, Mangalore division can be created by merging Vasco londa, Swantwadi jokkatte, mangalore to hassan lines. In such case TVC and PGT can be merged to become ERM division containing entire KL lines. POY NYY to TVC can be merged with MDU divison. SCT to QLN can be brought under ERM division. getting consenus will be tough. Easy solution is mangalore KA portions can be merged with mysore division.

Actions should be in a composite way in steps.
1. Remove Mangalore and surrounding 35 kms from SR PGT and merge with SWR MYS. From Manjeshwaram onwards up to SWR MYS.
2. Remove POY Kinathukadavu 22 kms from PGT and give it to SA division.
3. To compensate loss of 55-60 kms to PGT, give TCR SRR from TVC division

(33 kms) and TCR GUV (23 kms).
4 Attach NCJ CAPE, NCJ TEN to MDU division(90 kms).
5. To compensate loss of app 140 kms of TVC division, attach Quilon Tenkasi (102 kms).
6. MDU gets and gives. No much difference.

Exactly. This is what needed to be done. PGT can develop Guruvayur thirunnavarya, TVC can develop sabari line. .

Agree
Yes. Zero new lines in the last 3 decades. Guruvayoor to SRR-MAQ line was surveyed n number of times but zero result. Ditto for Angamaly Sabari line.
Instead of relying on Mangalore and Nagercoil/ CAPE, both divisions can concentrate on building new lines.

Nothing is going to happen. So many years we keep seeing this in IRI and other forums. There are already reports where it is mentioned that there are too many divisions in any case. So many requests keep coming from all MP's for their respective states/constituency. I don't think railways looks at this with that much seriousness. Only thing that can be done is to merge Konkan railways with IR and while that is being done do some rationalisation. If one region demand is met, similarly other regions will also start asking. There are similar demands in Andhra, Jharkhand, Odisha and other places as well !!
