Indian Railway Finance Corporation for the Kalol-Kadi-Katosan-Bechraji-Chanasma project. Train services on this route were halted on September 14, 2017. The central government approved ₹346.34 crore for the gauge conversion of the 37.23 km line. The foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Vadodara in June 2023. A trial run at 120 kmph was conducted on Sunday, with Railway Safety Commissioner Manoj Arora and other officials present, inspecting the line and various safety aspects, including fire safety and signaling systems. The commissioner stated that the technical audit is underway, and the Western Railway will decide on the resumption of train services.

Consequently, all trains on this route, operational for over 100 years, were stopped on September 15, 2017, to convert the meter gauge Ahmedabad-Kalol-Kadi-Ranujana line to broad gauge.
